Today, obsolescence is an integral part of everyone’s life. A gadget or tool purchased today will almost assuredly be out of date 6 months later. The stock pile of discarded appliances continues to grow, even as technological advances drive us to new heights. The question is, is this growth curve sustainable. Hollywood has, over the years, released several disaster movies in which the world is devastated with some affliction that wipes out the entire population. Per the movie, what we are left with is pile of technology and a lifestyle that mirrors that of cave dwellers.
Given the rapid rate of technological growth – we are talking about less than 150 years and given that it is unrealistic to believe that such growth is sustainable, is a world wide Armageddon so far fetched. So, my question, have we been here before?
If the earth is 4.5 billion years old. Let’s say it takes 1 billion years for life to germinate and develop – for all you creationists, this will ring hollow. Then it takes another 1 billion years to get us to a civilization level such as we have today – that’s 2 billion of the 4.5; then BOOM! game over. Everything on planet earth is turned to dust, all life is extinguished. Over the next (3rd) billion years, the process slowly begins again. As we enter billion # 4, life again begins to crystallize and we essentially arrive at where we are today – AGAIN. On a time line this is what it would look like:
0 – 1 Billion years ……. The earth is formed; life develops and growth begins.
2 + Billion years ………. A developed civilization explodes; life expires. Earth lies dormant.
3 + Billion years ………. Life develops and growth begins AGAIN.
4 + Billion years ……… A fully developed civilization pushing it’s boundaries AGAIN.
There’s been a lot of discussion and documentation to support this theory. However, power brokers and religious advocates are not supportive of this concept, as it essentially challenges the Story Lines – both political and religious, that have been used so effectively to manage and control the masses. I encourage you to skim through the following web site and think about the logic of the following – a) the actual age of planet earth; b) the extremely short time line which represents the KNOWN existence of Human Beings on earth; c) the fact that after 10,000 years of relative stagnation, the planet has exploded exponentially in technological growth and development in less than 150 years.
Here’s the web site:
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/ciencia/time_travel/esp_ciencia_timetravel08c.htm There’s a vast amount of information contained in this site – way too much to absorb in one sitting. But it is worthy of sifting through, reading some of the dialogue and selectively perusing the charts So, what does this mean and how does it affect us, today. I think it’s a logical question but I, for one, haven’t the slightest idea how to respond. I think it’s worth knowing and if our government would stop playing politics and share information that is currently available, it could be helpful. Consider the following – if we truly could learn from the past then it stands to reason that we may be able to make adjustments that would allow the world to side step another Armageddon. I think that would be an achievement. But sadly, history tells us that Human Beings are simply not of that mindset – yes, some are, but too many are not. So, the lessons learned yesterday are summarily trashed and a new approach is promulgated from the current generation and life rolls on - until it doesn't.
